Internships are only available to wildlife conservation volunteers who are staying for 6 weeks or more who would like to stay longer and improve their knowledge about wildlife conservation and game reserve management. Interns will be selected from volunteers who show high standards of competence, a willingness to help and an appetite for hard work during their time as a wildlife conservation volunteer. Prospective volunteers will be chosen by the staff for an internship while they are with us as a volunteer.
As an intern you will be offered an extension to stay on with GWC at no extra cost, as an unpaid member of staff. Assistance will be given to extend your visa for South Africa and to change your return flights home to coincide with the end of the internship at GWC. The internship is a position of responsibility and trust, the Galagos staff need to get to know and work with our prospective interns before they can be offered the position with the Galagos team. There will be 1 – 2 internships available at anytime and the length of the internship will be determined by the length of your initial volunteer stay, i.e if you book for 6 weeks of volunteering you would stay as an intern for a further 6 weeks.
This is an opportunity of a lifetime to learn more about wildlife conservation and game reserve management, not to mention the valuable and rewarding experience of working as part of an important wildlife conservation initiative in South Africa.
